Women who arent on hormonal birth control experience significantly lower rates of depression, mental illness, etc. Depending on how you look at it, it's either directly because of the hormones or because they tricked their body into believing it was pregnant for decades without having a baby. I.e. tricked their body into a scenario only naturally encountered if you're having endless miscarriages like you're playing Yahtzee with Satan.
