My bullshit detector went off from the first 5 seconds of the video, and based on the comments here I was right. There seems to be a pattern with the junk science videos where they start by giving a very basic science lesson. Probably to make the viewer think it is a legitimate science channel.

This is tabloid bullshit.

It turns out, electricity is easy to generate using multitudes of forms. This is just one. The earth itself is a giant capacitor. Current flows through the earth all the time. Pretty much all electricity comes from the sun: it heats up and causes wind, causes water to fall and flow, sends photons through silicone and so on. I doubt this technology will go very far. It seems expensive to build. Yea, it will get cheaper over time, but it just sounds too complicated and people don't actually understand how it works.
