I'm sorry, I didn't ask my question in such a way to get the answer I wanted.

I understood from your context that it meant "to make parallel"

More accurately I should have asked WHY does it mean that? Do you know the etymology of the word? I don't know any similar words except maybe "collate", and was hoping you could give me a deeper truer understanding of the word
