As a point of comparison, a Japanese scientist discovered the bacterium from which Ivermectin is extracted in forest soil circa 1970. Who knows what other compounds are out there awaiting discovery - if only they can be as inexpensive and safe as Ivermectin.

Don't quote me, but I think I recall reading that manufacturer cost to produce IVM is 6 or 8¢ per tablet. Merck has allegedly given away billions of doses to tropical countries. (Now that we know more about thieving government agencies and NGO's, I'm pretty sure the US taxpayer picked up the tab, not Merck. )
