Heard a report on the news a few weeks ago talking about one or two Portland Fred Meyers (owned by Kroger) closing down and people going "Oh no, now the homeless and crack addicts will congregate around the remaining Winco now, it's already happening..."
Which is a shame, because Fred Meyers used to be a good store. My Grandma met Mr. Meyers when she was a young girl, and she said he and his wife were just the nicest old people around.

A had a whole arrangement with the hot wheels collectors when I was there. They gave me a limited edition Fred Meyer van collectable when I left.
