This reminds me of a specific gentleman who was very into pool, and always carried his antique lucky 8 ball in his pocket, as he always insisted it is used in a game. Being an antique it was worth quite a lot, so he made sure it is protected by putting it inside a few stury long socks and tying a tight knot to make sure it doesn't fall out.

Nothing beats a sturdy leather belt. Make sure it's easy to quickly pull out and your pants are not too loose (even though that could be an intimidation move), wrap the leather end a few times around the knuckle and use it as a whip with bucke on the striking end.
