Oh cool, me too!
I can totally tell that not much of the bullshit in my area will look much the same in 100 years, and will surely be almost completely different in 1000 years. We just don't build stuff like the Romans used to do - all this shitty drywall and plastic and shiny flimsy bullshit these days!
That said, I just replaced the living room ceiling fan today, and I was pleased to see how well built our ceiling in that room is. This house is such a hodge podge, though. Pretty much every room was an add on at some point or other, so build quality varies dementedly from room to room. Stupid weird cool house... at any rate, it'll be 100% better than it was when we're ready to move to a better place than it was when we bought it!
But I digress, as per usual...
Sounds like the original rooms will be the stronger rooms.
And the unoriginal rooms will be MUSHROOMS!
Oh! It was originally a tool shed shack thing, before the 60s... I think that's the kitchen now... then another room was added, possibly two - they didn't keep super terrific records for a period there, and crawling under the house is a weird maze of kind of seperate and kind of connected various foundations. On the upside, this crazy labyrinth of additional foundations added over time ive the house a super strong base, aside from the newest addition, which has enough room under it for an actual cellar, but could actually use some additional support [which the inspector showed me when I bought the place - it's good enough to be legal, but could stand improvement].
It's survived a bunch of pretty decent earthquakes since that last addition was completed in 1968, so that's also reassuring.
