TouchWiz of 2012 to 2014 was functionally vastly superior compared to stock Android (and especially iOS).

But in late 2014, the first cracks started to appear: The Galaxy Note 4 lost some functionality (although not much).

Then the Galaxy S6 was announced, where Hyun Yeul Lee (a phonelitical (en.everybodywiki.com) leftist extremist and probably a disguised Apple shill) proudly showed off on the Unpacked keynote how reduced the functionality of the Galaxy S6 is, for the sake of mininalism fetishism.

And Justin Denison, the same guy who mocked Apple for removing the headphone plug (Note 7 keynote), trivialised how horrible of an idea non-replaceable batteries are (en.everybodywiki.com).

Confident knowing about that built-in planted obsolescence? Not really.

The S6 was not a bad phone. It had several improvements, especially regarding CPU/GPU performance and camera.

But it was no fitting successor to the S5. It should have been part of a new series. Or at least, they should have left the Note series out of that shitty design trend. (androidpolice.com)

Pre-installed apps are annoying.

I agree that those should be downloadable instead of pre-installed.

Although they don't bother me as much as missing features.

Disabling should actually completely suspend all activity from that app.

One needs root access to actually uninstall it. Yes, not great, but does not bother me nearly as much as missing functionality.

Sure I have.

But why did they not just get a Google Nexus instead of Samsung, if they prefer less functionality?

(Yes, pre-installed apps are not good. But I considered system functionality such as Samsung AirView quite useful and with good potential for app developers.)

Google phones may not be universally available or have not the right hardware/features.
