A Zionist at work gave me the answer to this. He said it was because Israel is surrounded by enemies who want to destroy her so the US, as her ally, must save her and prop her up. My response is...what is Israel doing for us to justify all that aid or do they just take? He stuttered but then said, "But we have to support our allies! We cannot let them be destroyed." Then I said for just $2billion a year, we can solve our homeless problem. That's it. Homelessness solved. Across the US. We have the studies. So why waste the money on them when we have hundreds of thousands of Americans - many of whom are veterans with PTSD and other mental illnesses - who need that money more? Then I suggested letting private citizens support Ismael if they want but the US should spend that money domestically. He disagreed and gave me the same sentence about needing to support our allies. I don't want to make enemies at work so I said we don't have to agree and I won't push the topic anymore.
