My friend thought it would be like a car with no roads and no speed limit. He did not understand that open water is trackless and without landmarks. He had no way of judging how fast he was going except the speedometer and had no obstacles to dodge around.
Did he wreck it?
No. He became bored with it. He ignored it for two years while still paying docking fees, then was unable to sell it for five years. I pointed out to hime that he was trying to sell it as new rather than used. He did not lower the price, it sold when luxury taxes raised the prices of new boats.
Ah well boats are for fishing in my opinion. Tubing is pretty fun too. I can sit on a lake for hours fishing in most any weather.
Some of the best days I've ever had have been on the lake. Be it fishing, tubing, wakeboarding, or party cove. Typically all in the same day. Granted I've never owned a boat.
Also house boating for weeks and jet skis. I fucking love boats of all kinds.
