All manner of creatures and humans have been farting on Earth for billions of years. Vast numbers of animals and people farting all the time. Why does the Earth's atmosphere not smell like farts?

To me, it does, it's really gross..

But in a vacuum, light goes on forever, until it hits something. It does not dissipate.
