Trust me, Russia isn't free by any means. Their conditions have improved dramatically since the 90's, but there are still very shithole things about it. Nothing functions efficiently, tons of bureaucracy, no free speech against government, people aren't friendly or have any care for their fellow person, standards are low, morale and work ethic is low, there is bribery by public servants, employer abuse, etc. The grass always looks greener on the other side. They are getting nicer cities, infrastructure, etc. but they have many underlying problems.
