I'm certain I saw an interview with it where it clearly stated when it heard about the shooting, it grabbed its camera, got on its bicycle, and went to the school.

I guess it's like those "holocaust survivors" that spent the entire war in ghettoes in eastern europe, and were never sent to work camps.
