I heard General Macarthur wanted to make the DMZ a nuclear wasteland with nukes so as to make in *impossible* to cross--and not tempt the North Koreans. Nukes degrade over time--think how quick and cheap we could fix the US southern border with that taboo strategy (literally could be done over-night with no financial over-head: and work *perfectly*, minus a corridor or two for legal travel).
