Organic Mercury is a whole different type of mercury than the stuff found in old thermometers or used in gold mining. Organic mercury is often referred to as Methyl-mercury and it will go through your skin and kill you. Standard mercury isn't good to mess with, but really takes a significant amount of exposure to do any damage.

One type of organic mercury is methyl mercury. Diethyl mercury will screw you up too.

Gotta learn chemistry nomenclature.

" the Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined Dartmouth for failing to adequately train staff on the limits of disposable gloves". How could they have trained staff to a hazard that was not tested or documented? The testing of the permeability of mercury through latex was done after her exposure. This is a great example of the government punishing an innocent bystander in order to protect its authority. She knew more about the hazards posed by the chemicals she worked with than OSHA bureaucrats. It was a terrible accident and she didn't blame Dartmouth.

The dangers of non-elemental mercury are well known among chemists. When working with a new compound SDS sheets are only one source of safety info.

Place about 2 or 3 drops of this in a small quantify of distilled water. Pour all into a small water squirt gun. During rainy weather, spray this onto your Target.

I know somebody who has handled mercury with their bare hands. Quicksilver. Used it for gold mining.

Not regular mercury
