I'd prefer data that is not self-reported but ok. I do believe that autopilot is better than people, though, especially given that the person is supposed to be at, and there are certain measures to keep them at, the wheel. Normally all you have to do to avoid a crash is hit the brake, which the computer is probably already doing anyways.
