That show was seriously one of the most f’d up things I’ve seen. Read that it was born from a improv trope’s skit. And the first episode wasn’t even meant for kids.

I can definitely see how it came out of an improv trope having been in one myself. It looked like a live action play / visual of one of the more messed up things that can come from it.

Surprisingly (absolutely floored) I didn’t see any pedophile etc symbolism in the show!

No, the entire show was meant for "kids" but back then they slid adult instances that kids probably wouldn't get into all the shows so parents would watch them, too.

The stage show was completely the creation of the actor who wholly owns it. That's what came first. Then the movie which was a hit with everyone and spawned the children's show. An anniversary stage show was done a few years ago.
