There is a large amount of emotional manipulation with this video. Let's talk about bilge water being dumped, but make sure that we put stock pictures of straight crude oil spills and cute animals covered in oil to get the point across. Actual bilge slicks are usually just a sheen, but that won't change minds now will it.
All documentaries have some level of emotional manipulation but the whole idea of dumping your shit in the ocean instead of spending a few extra hours in port is the definition of pure lazy.
Yes, but in this video they heavily imply that the videos of heavy oil spills are the bilge dumps, however that is almost certainly not the case. I do agree though it is completely lazy not to dispose of it properly as its a legal requirement, I'm sure it only requires hooking a hose to the dock.
According to my boating class it is perfectly legal as long as you're more than 3 miles out from the coast.
