Yes, these folks own a lot of land. It's a really good place to invest money for the long term. Going through the list, I think most of them are good citizens who either earned their wealth or inherited family wealth. Either way, they use their land to produce wealth for their own profit and the benefit of the country. Most of them probably vote conservative (not too sure about Ted Turner). I prefer this to foreign ownership of land and other businesses like meat and grain processing facilities, where a large percentage of the products are exported to other countries. And let's put in perspective. All together, these people own ~8.75 million acres. That's about 2/3 the size of San Bernardino county in California which is a bit less than 12.9 million acres, the largest county in the USA.

San Bernardino is basically the Mojave desert. So they have 2/3 of that.
