Any time I see the word asbestos I get freaked out. When I was a kid, our church would do retreats at this camp where the top bunks had you inches away from the asbestos on the ceiling. You couldn’t sleep on your back. But I didn’t know it was dangerous. I just thought it was messy and looked gross.

Thing is, if it's sealed it's fine. Asbestos is an awesome fire retardant. It's if it gets scratched or opened up that those spores leak out and...get into your lungs. It never gets out...ever. You will die with them in your lungs.

Damn. That’s crazy. I think I’ll check out an asbestos documentary with my coffee. Sounds like when we were painting with lead.

the really fucked up thing is that very few people know that it is mined side by side with talcum powder so there is always a decently high risk of talcum powder having aspestos. in theory QC/QA should make sure it is pure talcum but J&J has been sued for giving people cancer from the talcum powder

I use powder in the summer. Usually medicated or the after shower kind. Helps with the sweating from the awful heat.

Not long ago I realized foot and body powder are corn starch now. Noticeably different but good if the talc was trying to kill me. Seems heavy to me where talc was more “airy” and got all over everything more easily.
