If you're not then you lose one of your greatest forces/incentives, and at the same time if you're scared of dying, that's something holding you back, a flaw, somehow
The most interesting theory I've heard about death, or rather NDEs as in Near Death Experiences related to that tunnel of light that many see, is that this vision could very well be the result of the whole machine, chemistry, the whole "body/mind" vehicle, turning inward on itself, toward the heart of matter, heart of atoms, pure energy if you will

One can be both unafraid of death and motivated to live. It all depends on the belief of what comes after.
