Be careful opening an old half full bottle bleach, maybe do it outside. No l didn't learn this the hard way. I have a gallon jug of bleach in the shed and wondered if it expires or not. Decomposition becomes noticeable around a year after production.

I had no idea it starts decomposing more or less immediately, but it makes sense knowing it's created by percolating gas into a liquid, sort of like a poisonous carbonated soda, except it's also sensitive to heat and any metal ions present in the water.
