This is largely because the broader culture—through media, politics, and education—has normalized and even celebrated gender dysphoria rather than addressing it as a psychological struggle. The language itself has been reshaped to obscure what’s actually happening. Terms that once implied disorder or distress are now framed in affirming, euphemistic ways. "Gender-affirming care" replaces what might more critically be called "medical intervention for identity confusion." This distortion doesn’t just accommodate dysphoria—it reinforces and institutionalizes it. What we're seeing isn’t just compassion or tolerance, but a systemic unwillingness to engage with the possibility that this might, for many, be a symptom of deeper psychological or social issues—ones that should be met with careful scrutiny, not blind affirmation.
