It's funny I haven't come across any explanation of why they were pinning him down.
Because he was fighting them to get in the police vehicle and falling down on the sidewalk. Floyd was also like 6'6" tall and built.
They have a cop car right there, you'd think they'd just toss him in and go.
They did - and he fought them to stay in. Then he started having his heart attack.
But it appears they were waiting for something? Medical personnel?
Bingo. The fact that, even at the end of the first cell phone footage that was released, medical personnel arrived to place Floyd on a gurney indicates that they had called in for medical relief earlier on. Police are not medics, but they are still required to keep a perp under arrest.
