There were always men like that. We called them 'sissies' back in my day. It's just that social media has given them a huge platform from which to spout their nonsense and give them a sense of belonging and power. A friend of mine lamented that she felt like you just can't say anything anymore without offending someone. I asked if she thought I'd toned down at all in the years she's known me. She said I was an exception. I said I could be an example, instead. Say what you want and deal with the outcome. You only "can't" do that when you let others control your behavior.
