My work requires people who haven’t taken the jab to wear masks as of a few weeks ago. I haven’t worn my mask since. My work doesn’t require you show proof, nor do they want people questioning your status. Anyway, can I get fired for not wearing a mask? It was announced everybody must mask up regardless of status. I’m in California.

Terrible advice. They'll ask for proof. You lost the card? Get the shot again they're free. Don't lose the card this time. See you on Monday.

Just say "I don't feel comfortable talking about medical stuff at work." There's nothing they can do. That's why, as OP pointed out, they don't ask.

As far as the mask thing he's pretty screwed. They'll fire him for "unrelated" reasons even if he has a good reason for not wearing a mask. He can either wear something that isn't too uncomfortable or find a different job.

Yes but if one day they decide they want proof he's backed into a corner. The whole situation seems pretty fucked. If it was me I would make a mask out of tulle. Never seen anything saying what material it has to be.
