I don't know what Fauci is thinking but we had pre-existing immunity to the 'rona before 2020.

Depending on the study, it was 25%-50% of pre-existing immunity.

Add in the folks that got immunity from being sick and that's between 20%-40% depending on the study.

That puts us at a minimum of 45% and a maximum of 90%. Obviously, maximum is not legit because we still have quite a few people getting sick and dying from it.

83% is the herd immunity level. I estimated we were around 72%, a couple of weeks ago. We are likely 3%-8% better especially if you consider the second wave of vaccinations taking place.

So we are about to cross over a critical point to where it is much harder for the virus to spread. We should see the 'rona start to die down rather quickly.
