Delta was serious business. It killed people, in significant numbers, who got alpha (natural immunity) and vaccinated. A cold could progress to death within less than 2 weeks. Jury is still out on Omicron. We had a massive spike in new daily cases, recently. When the cases spiked this high, we had record numbers of daily deaths (this was back in January. That was still Alpha and before the vaccines. If Omicron is worse than Alpha (we don't know for sure, yet), resistant to vaccines (yes, significantly so), resistant to natural immunity (yes, significantly so but your natural immunity still protects you much more than the vaccines even with Omicron), we should see daily deaths as high as January 2021.
