I don't think it's ever been made clear whether autistics have more aluminum in their bodies because they were exposed to more aluminum, or because some defect in their bodies causes aluminum to build up. This was a question with regard to Alzheimer's sufferers a decade or two ago. I don't remember hearing that it was ever resolved.
