The results are expected because the virus damages the inner cells of the blood vessels, leading to clotting and other problems. They started the study when no vaccines were available - good. They compared the participants to a historical control cohort from 2018 that never got vaccinated. We don't know how many of the participants got vaccinated in the period under observation. So we don't know if vaccination side effects played a role in the post-acute phase.
