Poor word choice on my part. The German soldiery was a group of Christians, and I know that they would have risen through the ranks to hold the bulk of positions within the SS. There was an element within the organization that was preoccupied with the occult and the ability the harness supernatural powers. The SS had many larger roles and more significant responsibilities than this. This group was a small subset. However, I don't think it was wise of Hitler to tolerate it as he did.
