Not defending her stupid prediction, but that's not necessarily what was being said. There's a "point of no return" nuance, what they are claiming is that 2023 would be the point of no return after which it wouldn't matter if we tried to slow/stop after that, the run away effect will destroy us. They weren't claiming that the world would be over in 2023.

They also claimed the "point of no return" multiple times in the past. If that were true, they'd have all given up by now and just said "Fuck it, you idiots ended the world already, do whatever" before vanishing from the public eye for good.
