First time I met Japanese IRL I felt ashamed of what we have become, both US and Europe.
They tend carry themselves with a quiet dignity that makes me embarrassed by how most Americans behave.
And man, this story is kind of mind-blowing. I'm certain that ball will be worth a shitload of money. And yet, every last person in that stadium was honest enough to take a look, and pass it along.
Peer pressure has a lot to do with it, I'm sure- you don't want to be the guy spotted pocketing the ball. I'm not sure what would happen if that's how this played out... Japanese aren't the type to mob up and beat someone over something like that. He'd probably be quietly, discreetly detained by security/police, ball retrieved and returned to the girl, guy's face is blasted on social media/the news so that everyone will forever know that this man is a scumbag who would steal from a girl who was generous enough to share her lucky catch with her fellow stadium-goers.
Japanese tend to be highly intelligent and usually have a strong sense of honor.
