Acknowledging them doesn’t give them consent to do anything. Acknowledging their existence is the most fundamental step in being able to counter the problems they produce, actually.
Think about it. How can you possibly solve any problem if you are unaware of or unwilling to admit or consider that the root of that problem even exists? You can’t.
These things are no different.
Perfect example is my ex wife. Grew up “Christian”… but she gave consent by playing around with occult shit (somewhat habitually as I later discovered), and then consequently got her very own “invisible friend”. That’s a whole other story that I’m not going to go into because I’m not trying to write a book. But for the purpose of an example of giving consent, there ya go. Derek Prince has countless teachings on how people, even Christians, give such consent..often unwittingly…but sometimes just stupidly (they should know better).
Christians, be they actual ones or fake ones can, just like anyone else, open doors that the demonic can enter into.
But see, a mature Christian understands this and is thus careful not to open such doors in the first place..or at least if they do, recognize it quickly and fix the issue.
In any case, I don’t disagree with your main point, which is that a Christian can be demonically oppressed (or some would call it possession). But then for that to happen also necessarily means they are a nominal Christian at worst, or very uneducated about these matters at best…or perhaps they are quite versed on these things, but then upon realizing they have a demon problem, too scared to do anything about it. Because truth be told, it can be painful to deal with. In the end it’s better to get rid of them..but it’s like a bullet being lodged in you. It can hurt to dig it out and get rid of it, but it’s better to get rid of it than carry it around inside of you.
But again, an actual Christian has options to deal with these things, when no one else does. The demons don’t cower at the name of anyone else but that of Jesus.
If you don’t believe me, then go and try to cast one out with the name of Buddha, Allah, Muhammad, or any other name of your choice. Let me know how it goes haha.
Understand, the first miracle that put Jesus on the map was casting a demon out of a guy in the synagogue. Up until his arrival, there was no way to do it. It’s precisely why, in the Old Testament, God instructed the Israelites to stone people to death for certain sins..deliverance wasn’t available at that point. Not until Jesus came. And so the only way to keep that stuff from spreading throughout the tribes was to off the people who would otherwise spread it and turn everything into the “days of Noah” again.

Atheists are rarely possessed if ever, because they are already right where the devil wants them to be, they don't believe in god... If they get possessed they might start believing in god... It's not my opinion it's what an exorcist observed.
