They actually can... If Rittenhouse gets a fair trial and is acquitted the feds will be right there to pick him up and bring federal charges against him. They were prepared to do this for Chauvin, but the kangaroo court did it's job. I hate to say this, but I kind of hope this happens because it will be extremely difficult after that to claim there is any semblance of justice left in the jewdicial system.

What federal charges can they bring against him though? They wont be able to retry him for whatever he was tried for in the first trial. It will have to be a different charge which most likely will be substantially less serious. And im not sure how jurisdiction works over murder trials. Im pretty sure the feds have no standing there so it would have to be like some terrorism charge or something that falls within their powers thats why they had to invent RICO.

This happened to my friend. The appeals judge ruled illegally overthrowing the previous ruling. He appealed to the highest court. They agreed that the judge was wrong but refused to take the case for no explanation.
