It's hardly the first time we were told by politicians they'd do things they should but never do. When an official emergency is declared that allows the gov't to get money and powers they do not normally have access to and as we have seen that is the goal of many emergency declarations. Telling the people what they want to hear is part of the process of getting away with whatever agenda they actually have.
