Is this not like the 5th time they have tried this and it keeps getting pushed off another 10 years? Don't get me wrong. I have replaced nearly all of my bulbs with LED but I did that because I found ones that have a light tone I like and they use less power and last longer.
I still have the old incandescent bulbs in a box incase I need them for some reason.
This actually started in W's term, Obummer enhanced it, Trump cancelled all that (so you could buy incandescents again), this is Biden shutting down incandescents again and forcing LED vs flourescent.
I get decent performamce with interior LED bulbs, but have not had great luck with exterior LED screw in replacement bulbs. At $10 and up a piece, I had 60% mortality within a year and a half - with infrequent use. Infant mortalities wrt hours used. Where's all of my savings? The old incadescents would last years because of their infrequent use.
Exactly. We have those damn things in my apartment complex's staircase and what do you know? Half of them are already dead before the end of the month after they get replaced! But hey, at least they turn on only if they detect your movement, and even that doesn't save them. I've known some soviet-made bulbs that still work to this day in comparison.
I have a couple 1930s era (maybe older) , clear glass, roughly 60W, you can't look at the lit bulb very long or you will get a residual image of the filament on your retina that stays with you for a minute. A tough, old school litebulb with the blown glass "tit' on the end.
Ok, that is a good point. I don't think I replaced any of my "outdoor" lamps with LED. I suppose maybe I will now to test their lifespan. Everything I have replaced has been indoors.
