Silencers are assassins weapon by nature, "special ops", false flags and such, green berets, spies eventually, in a worst case scenario... At the same time nowadays, it has almost become mandatory, for obvious reasons... You want to shoot happy shoot hidden, hence... Silencer...

That's what the law is dealing with ultimately here; legit self defense vs "assassination"... And it's grey territory... Think of green berets...

You need to try a silencer IRL rather than believing Hollywood. They're not assassin's weapons. They decrease the volume of gunfire by 20-35db. That's not assassination, just the difference between gunfire instantly deafening you and gunfire being as loud as a jackhammer. You'd still want to wear ear protection, but at least you arent giving yourself tinnitus by visiting an indoor range.
Sure it's not intended to reduce noise, it's not intended for discretion, it's not to avoid attracting too much attention, nooooooo, it's for accuracy of course, hence the name! Nah kidding, it's about earing protection of course, always has been lol
