I'm still not seeing what you're talking about. I found article claiming they are giving up the One D&D name and the rule revisions are going to still be considered 5th Edition. I'm also seeing stuff about a virtual table top, which seems like a cool idea tbh, as long as you can still play the traditional way. But yeah, didn't see anything about them getting rid of physical books or anything like that.

The consensus appears to be that they're planning to do away with physical books, switching entirely to vtt. Easier to revise/censor the rules on a whim that way. I hadn't heard that they'd abandoned the one d&d name, but it makes sense as it was poorly recieved.

The virtual table top is a good business decision as kids are more likely to connect with friends online, but eliminating physical books is a bad idea. I'm sure there will always be a large amount of players who wish to continue playing in the traditional style.

I've been digging through alternative systems myself, I refuse to humor them with even my attention. Incidentally hasbro at least knew who to blame https://www.polygon.com/23998290/hasbro-layoffs-before-christmas
