My house had a creek in it and some cracks were forming. Inadvertently discovered the previous owner had installed a laundry room and it wasn't original. The entrance was on a load bearing first story wall that took 2nd story floor load. They cut 4 studs exactly enough to fit the door frame. No header to take the load those four studs held right off the stairway. Fucking idiots that do that shit screw it up for everyone. I couldn't believe it.
