Everyone who expected to get a dime from that scam is either a parasitical boomer or a moron. I look forward to seeing "muy Social Security" freeloaders living under a bridge because they saved nothing.
Don't expect the government or a company to "save" for retirement. Save for your self.
Some people will say "but I cant". Yes, you can. You just have to change how you live. It might suck, you might get sick of rice and beans. You might have 3 roommates or something but you can save and you can provide for yourself.
Saving for retirement is trivial. Even easier than you said.
1) Get a job you dirty hippy. You can easily save $20k a year starting at 16. Dont give me any "muy high school" excuse. Homeschool, finish your classes in 3 hours, go work.
2) Do that until you're 21 instead of majoring in Communist Transvestite Studies. You have a cool $100k in cash instead of $100k in student loans.
3) S&P 500 Index fund. Median 8% compounded ROI for 49 years. Congrats, you're worth $4 million by age 70.
Bonus: No STDs, your hair isnt blue, and you're set for retirement by the time your peers are getting drunk and playing grab ass at frat parties.
This. 100% over and over. This.
