Ignoring any theories of it being a planned conspiracy or intentionally let happen or whatever. What exactly would you have SS do in the circumstance that they heard shots and acquired a shooter in their scope that is firing shots towards President Trump? Do they try for a wounding shot? Do they fire warning shots at him? Do they fire no shots and try to apprehend? What situation does he not end up dead and is apprehended and interviewed? I don't disagree that the whole event reeks of BS but it's disingenuous to argue that the shooter shouldn't be dead.
