No Shit, Junk food, fast food, sports/energy drinks/soda, etc should ALL be banned from SNAP/EBT. You should only be allowed to get fresh non-pre prepared food items like fresh fruit/veg and raw meat. There should also be a limit to how long someone can be on SNAP/EBT. If there are other factors at play then it can be figured out but this would end a lot of the waste, fraud and just general stupidity of the current programs.

From the post:

>A push to ban sugary drinks, candy and more from the U.S. program that helps low-income families pay for nutritious food has been tried before — but it may soon get a boost from new Trump administration officials. Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the newly confirmed health and human services secretary, and Brooke Rollins, the new agriculture secretary, have both signaled that they favor stripping such treats from SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Kennedy has been most vocal, calling for the government to stop allowing the nearly $113 billion program that serves about 42 million Americans to use benefits to pay for “ soda or processed foods.”

undermines the autonomy and dignity of people ... How do we stigmatize them more?

Autonomy and dignity come with paying your own way. Respect or a free ride, pick one. You don't get both.

Exactly. Bring back SHAME.

YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD FOR HAVING TO TAKE HANDOUTS. It is supposed to motivate you to pay your own way and to be successful.

There are exceptions for some people and I don't want to shame those that are actually in true need but a massive amount of people on these programs intentionally stay under/un-employed to keep the benefits.
