I understand the reasoning politically. It's basically saying the other side wanted to spend your tax money on trannies in Africa, but we're going to spend it on tax paying citizens. If they did these payments, it would cement liberals as the side that wasted money on stupid pet projects all over the world when that money could have been given as stimulus checks and/or reduced taxes. I don't want to touch the economic side, that's covered in this thread. But people getting a a check that would probably have Trump's signature on it after all the talk about what USAID has been wasting money on is political death to liberals and their pet projects.
