The vast majority of "higher education" is extremely administratively top-heavy. The highest paid people in edu are "admin" not educators or the faculty/staff that keeps the place running.

My source is that I worked in Gov/EDU for a while. It was complete bullshit. Most of the people there never had a job outside of the university in their life (started their first job at the uni, then changed jobs or were promoted mostly because they had been there for a long time, not because they were good at their job). Maybe fire some of the fucks at the top that do fucking nothing other than line their pockets.

Often, when layoff's come its not for the people that SHOULD be fired but for those that actually do the job and are good at it. Its the inverse of how it should be.

Also, fuck places like Stanford. They have billion dollar endowments. They DONT NEED FEDERAL FUNDS.

>Stanford University will permanently lay off hundreds of employees this fall as part of sweeping budget reductions driven by shifting federal policies and financial pressures, according to state filings and statements from university officials. The layoffs, effective Sept. 30, impact 363 positions and stem from a $140 million reduction in Stanford’s general funds budget for the 2025-26 academic year, according to a WARN notice filed last month.
