From this, the values of words and phrases are calculated. Thereafter, the relative (there’s that concept again) worth of a phrase associated with a given idea is measured against what jews call their most “sacred” numbers to determine whether the idea has merit. Seriously. This is real. They count up letters in a sentence and determine if something is good or bad based on a pre-assigned value thereto. Jews also use Gematria to ignore what their own holy texts say, particularly when the texts tell them to do something they don’t like. Therefore, say the kabbalists, Abraham did not take 318 men, like the Torah says, but rather only took Eliezer.
