How to you "winterize" a running / heat generating power plant?
You winterize things you shut down , running water doesn't freeze, coal doesn't stop generating heat, etc.
Now if you are going to say solar farms and windmills can't handle the cold, I agree.
There are certain components in a power plant that are safety features. If they are not winterized, they will not work in cold temperatures. Since they are a safety feature, the whole plant has to shut down. If a safety feature isn't running and they try to run the power plant, then they run the chance of much bigger problems happening.
Like what? My dad used to build power plants 30 years ago, and he doesn't know what they would need to do. Please enlighten me.
Like an explosion. Equipment will fail or malfunction if it's not able to handle cold temperatures. They would need to winterize all equipment that fails in freezing temperatures.
