Asking them nicely would not work, presenting a mountain of evidence to the SCOTUS didn't work, so what options have they left the patriots? Force. And they knew this, they knew that the patriots who would be in DC on 1/6 would be extremely dangerous if like 2,000 of them showed up with rifles. **So the tyrannical government the patriots are trying to resist issue an illegal mandate, threatening to murder anyone who exercises 2A rights within a certain radius of the capitol. I saw a great meme, I can't find it right now, but it sums up this "I'm so principled" bullshit: it's a 4 panel comic. First three panels show leftists rioting, getting progressively worse in each panel, and some conservative MAGA-hat wearing guy saying "Humph, look at how violent they are! We are so much more principled than them!" In the final panel, the MAGA-hat guy is tied to a post, blindfolded, big stupid grin on his face. There is a faggy looking guy dressed in a communist uniform pointing a rifle at the MAGA hat guy. The MAGA hat guy says "Psh, I can't believe your lack of principles!" If there were a fifth panel... well, I don't think MAGA dude would have much to say at that point.
