and according to the above article protestors and their efforts have consistently been losing ground since they began. One could argue that hong kong is an incorrect measurement of the population ratio because they are fighting the CCP not the Hong Kong government itself. But I think this metric is worth noting anyway. In HKs battle of attrition with their government, they have not made progress with nonviolent resistance let alone be able to topple a dictator. 3.5 % maybe idk, but not with civil resistance alone. Unless they mean civil in the same way the word civil is used in the phrase "civil war"

Yes, they are fighting main land China, if 90% of HK was protesting it wouldn't matter.
