I guess I would say that since we're a clock-based society it doesn't make any sense to move the arbitrary time forward. We could all agree to move the time zones back to 'normal' and start activities at different hours. Kids by me go to school at three different times in the morning, depending on grade. A buddy of mine starts work at 4:30 AM. I wake up whenever the dogs want breakfast and start my day from there.
Setting a "standard' time just means setting one we all agree to.
It's MUCH harder to reset thousands and millions of different schedules and independent times and starts vs just not rolling back the clock once.
